Huntington who built the Central Pacific Railroad which ultimately met The Union Pacific at Promontory Point in Utah with the driving of the golden spike. This car was purchased for Huntington's private use to travel from his estate in San Marino California to New York and then on to Europe where he would purchase art and rare manuscripts for his museum located at his estate back in San Marino.
